What is the Symbol Relations Cognitive Function?

Symbol Relations is a higher-order cognitive function that is responsible for understanding and connecting ideas.

It is involved in tasks that enable an individual to reason using logic and to connect and process complex relationships and concepts simultaneously. It is involved in comprehension across all academic subjects and in life.

Program Information

Sports

Strengthening the brain and body together is crucial to a child’s overall well-being. This summer, your child can experience water sports, mountain sports, hiking, rugby, Gaelic softball or hockey.

Nutrition

Proper nutrition is crucial to fueling the brain and the body. Participants will be nourished by healthy balanced meals and snacks. Food allergies or sensitivities will be accommodated.

Dates: June 26 – Aug 4th, 2023
Duration: 6 weeks

Location

Located in the French Alps, close to Flumet-St. Nicolas la Chapelle, near to Albertville and Megève, at an altitude of 1,000m. Switzerland and Italy are 70 and 40km away, respectively.

Overnight camp

Boarding at SEK-Les Alpes is an unforgettable and enriching experience, which encourages students' self-reliance, independence and personal development.

Schedule

Ages 12-13:

Monday to Friday

4 hours and 45 minutes of cognitive programming
4 hours of sports activities.

Ages 14-17:

Monday to Friday

6 hours and 30 minutes of cognitive programming
3 hours of sports activities.

Weekends

Weekends will comprise of a diverse range of activities such as:

visits to local cultural attractions
mountain excursions
movies
group crafts
sports activities
free time

Fees

10,000 Euros per student

Payment terms:

50% due upon acceptance to the program. The remaining amount is due by June 16, 2023.

Enrollment Suitability

Ages: 12 to 17

Languages: Instruction is in English and Spanish requiring participants to be fluent in either English or Spanish .

Ability to:

engage in intensive cognitive programming
participate in sports activities
be away from home for 6 weeks in a boarding environment

Students must bring the following devices:

Laptop Computer with the most current version of Google Chrome installed
External mouse and numeric keypad

How to Apply

Fill out an expression of interest form.

Students will be selected based on their ability to engage in intensive cognitive programming, physical activity and ability to attend overnight boarding while being away from home for 6 weeks.
